NWB Bank finances GeoThermie Delft
The NWB Bank enters a new sustainable market, the one of geothermal heat. The NWB Bank has found an agreement with GeoThermie Delft on financing the new geothermal heat source. GeoThermie Delft is a unique project and will deliver sustainable geothermal heat to the TU Delft Campus and the surrounding neighborhoods. The geothermal heat will be delivered to the houses of four social housing associations. Geothermal heat enables the municipality of Delft in lowering its CO₂ emission and moving away from fossil energy. An important step in our national energy transition. The total financing is almost € 50 million.
Peter Borghstijn (project finance manager NWB Bank): ‘This is our first project in geothermal heat and it connects seamlessly with our sustainability and renewable energy strategy.’
GeoThermie Delft is a collaboration between Aardyn, EBN, TU Delft and Shell. Netverder is responsible for the roll out of the heating network. Heat delivery is done via Inwarmte. The financing is done together with Rabobank. Advisors are: Dentons, Stek and Rebel.
