Important step taken in the financing of the National Climate Adaptation Strategy (NAS)

The National Adaptation Strategy (NAS) is the overarching policy framework through which the Netherlands prepares for the consequences of climate change. Led by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Dutch national government is working on an update of the NAS in 2026. A key component of the NAS is broadening climate financing for adaptation.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, NextGreen—drawing on input from over fifty financial institutions (including NWB Bank), government representatives, and knowledge organisations—has prepared the report: “Climate-Resilient Netherlands: The NAS as a Compass for Collaboration and Investment.” This advisory report outlines where financial institutions can contribute, what they need from the government and other parties to do so.

This report marks an important step in the realisation of the NAS, a goal to which NWB Bank is pleased to contribute, in line with its mission, and has done so through its involvement in this report.
